Our MARVELOUS PTA generously donates many resources to the children and families at Sward School.  One very important program that PTA sponsors over the summer is the “KEEP SWARD CLEAN” campaign.  Each week, different Sward families volunteer to pick up the litter left on school grounds by inconsiderate others (children and parents) who come to the school’s playground and leave their garbage strewn about.  If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Mrs. Jaworek at

312-613-7500.  Thanks!

Attention 5th grade boys!!  The Boy Scouts are looking for YOU to join the Sward-area troop and learn to enjoy all the activities promoted by the Scouts.  Mr. and Mrs. Egan, area troop leaders, will be here on June 7th with many activities for the G5 boys to try; they will also have information available for parents.  On June 11th, the Scouts will set up “camp” on the north side of the school from 3:00 – 6:00 for boys and their parents to experience.  Don’t miss this great opportunity to become involved!

Don’t miss your chance to win an LG 55” Ultra HD Smart TV! We are selling raffle tickets for $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. Proceeds will benefit the D123 Ed Foundation. The drawing will be held on

June 15, 2017. Winner need not be present. Stop by the Sward office to purchase your tickets!

Many THANKS are shared with our amazing PTA volunteers for the commemorative events that have been planned in honor of my retirement and Mrs. Eklin’s retirement.  The “Gloodt Garden” in the front of the school is beautiful; such a welcoming sight as visitors arrive to the school!  The BLOCK PARTY was a hoot!!  It may have rained, but our spirits weren’t dampened one bit.  Thank you to all the current and former Sward families and teachers who braved the elements to share their well-wishes with Mrs. Eklin and myself.  And today…the signs around the school have brought tears to my eyes.  Each one reminds me of the incredible journey I’ve been privileged to share with each of our Sward families.  If only in a small way my presence has made a positive impact in the community, then my life is fulfilled.  Thank you to each and every one of you for the years of community building and love.
